| Poseidon Games You Can Play in the Swimming Pool
|
(Usually Without Anyone Realizing What You're Doing)
First Posted to Mount Poseidon
1. Seeing if you can swim three lengths underwater, or if, like Susan, you can only swim two.
2. Jumping in, letting all the breath out of your lungs and sinking to the bottom of the deep end, and pretending you're stuck underneath a big, heavy, steel door — and counting off the seconds in your head to see if you can last as long as Scott does. (I can't.)
3. Holding yourself under by hanging on to the bottom of the pool ladder, and not letting all the air out of your lungs, and then counting off the seconds in your head to see if you can last as long as Scott does. (I can, but it usually hurts.)
4. Climbing to the roof of your rich friend's bathhouse/cabaƱa and falling backward into the deep end of the pool while screaming, "Give me your hand, Reverend! Give me your haaaaaaaaand!" (Nope, I've never been able to make myself do it backwards. I can jump off a bathhouse and into a pool only if I can see where I'm going. Who wants to risk the pain of a back-flop? Or missing the pool entirely?)
5. Climbing to the top of the high-dive at the Elks Club pool and just dropping into the deep end, twenty feet below. (That's the closest approximation I've been able to make to Give Me Your Hand, Reverend! Man. The Elks give you funny looks, though.)
6. Staying under in the deep end with a friend who will agree to stay suspended in water while you push him backward with a shove in the chest, a la Floaty Dead Elvis. (Easier said than done, unless he lets all the air out of his lungs first.)
7. Throwing in odd things that will sink to the bottom, so you can prowl around down there and "discover" them, in the much-better remake of Beyond TPA which exists only in your head.
Well, of course I haven't played any of these games in years — and I was so young then! I mean, I haven't had a house with a pool since, geez, 1991. ;) — JR |

| How to Have a Post-Apocalyptic Theme Party (On New Year's Day) |
Uploaded by whycantihavespaces, January 12, 2012. "A handy guide for anyone who wants to spend new year's day recreating some of their favourite moments from classic post-apocalyptic movies and games. Ever watched someone in Fallout or Mad Max or 28 Days Later or The Road wandering round an empty destroyed city filled with ravenous subhuman flesheaters and thought this would make a great theme for a party? Then this is the video for you! ..."
