Stuntman or actor? Actor or stuntman? I just can't decide... (Oops, sorry — I was channeling Harry Connick, Jr.) Decision's up in the air, as Richard H. is credited in two flicks as a stuntman — Night Moves (1975) and Superman (1978) — and two as an actor — Scarecrow (1973) and The Conversation (1974). Oh, wait... "Actor" wins, since he played two different roles (small as they were) in The Conversation. The pic at left is of RH as a priest in a confessional (his other part in TC was as a security guard) in that terrific thriller. ... Why are all his credits for Gene Hackman movies? 'Cause he's Gene's brother. ... Richard is not credited (anywhere!) as having worked on The Poseidon Adventure, but there is no doubt in my mind he did. From my very first (1998) interview with Carol Lynley:
"... The only times Carol used a double [in The Poseidon Adventure] were those scenes in which she had to be very high off the ground. She has a very real fear of heights... 'I go rigid... into a fetal position.' ...
"When she did go rigid, Gene Hackman's brother (who worked on the film) would climb up to wherever Carol was stuck. 'He'd make this perimeter around me,' she says, holding her arms wide in front of her. He wouldn't touch her, but rather frame her in a sort of safe area as she made the climb down."
