About PoseidonAdventure.com

What's Here, What's Not, Why, and What the Future Holds
I created The World's First Carol Lynley Fan Page in late 1996. As it garnered more and more attention from Poseidon Adventure fans, I created the Web's first (and then, only) Poseidon Adventure fan site in early 1997.
After corresponding with numerous TPA fans via email and Usenet, I realized we all needed a single place to come together and share our (then-obscure) obsession with TPA. So I started the first organization of Poseidon Adventure fans in late 1998, on onelist.com (which morphed into egroups.com, and is now Yahoo! Groups). The group was (and sometimes still is) known fondly as "Mount Poseidon."

Both Mount Poseidon and the TPA site have naturally undergone many changes over the better part of a decade. A lot of ugliness behind the scenes (which is typical of fandom in general) led to a splintering of the original group, and now there exist several offshoot groups which either A) hate my guts for reasons I still can't fathom, and/or B) fail to acknowledge both my existence, and the fact that the current "wave" of TPA nostalgia was generated by the humble beginnings of Mount Poseidon.
Am I taking too much credit? No. I have a right to say that when people like Carol Lynley and Joel Hirschhorn (R.I.P.) have told me the same thing.
Despite switching mail services a few times over the years, Mount Poseidon has been online nonstop since 1998.
The TPA fan site was online nonstop until early 2005, when it became the target of repeated hacking attempts, untold volumes of hate mail, hotlinking (jerks linking photos directly from from my site, thereby driving up my bandwidth costs), and theft (lifting everything from photos to large blocks of original text and claiming them as their own), among other things.

Unable to put out all these fires at once (I'm only one person, and I do have a life), I simply shut down the site, while I tried to figure out the best way to lock down security, thwart the thieves, and avoid the rash of "YOU SUCK B----!" hate mail from mental midgets with far too much time on their hands.
I'd planned for the site to be back up in a month, but it never happened. I was worn out, and I had other things to tend to (like working).
So why is this page here? With the release of Poseidon (2006), the traffic to this site has gone through the roof (again) — so I wanted to leave you something to see, and keep you engaged until the day I bring The World's First Poseidon Adventure Web Site back online in all its glory.
When will that be? I don't know. I still have a lot of wounds that need to heal before I can immerse myself in TPA again.
Perhaps, if you're new to the original Poseidon Adventure, or a longtime TPA fan who just never discovered this site before, you'll join us over at Mount Poseidon, and your fresh enthusiasm will convince me that there's still some shred of genuine comraderie left in the world of fandom.
Until then... Don't fall O-ver!
